Atoxil
Atoxil

Atoxil is a new generation enterosorbent with pronounced absorbing properties. The drug exhibits antimicrobial, detoxification and wound healing effects. The active ingredient is silicon dioxide.

Atoxil absorbs from the gastrointestinal tract and removes from the body toxic substances of various origins, including microbial endotoxins, bacterial and food allergens and other toxic products formed in the intestine. The use of Atoxil promotes the transport of toxic substances from tissues, lymph and blood into the digestive tract with their subsequent elimination from the body.

Atoxil does not have the effect of reverse sorption, and the ability of powder particles to attach simultaneously to several cells allows agglutinating (gluing and precipitating) the entire bacterial mass.

Indications for use of Atoxil

The drug is prescribed in the following cases:

  • therapy of acute intestinal diseases, characterized by diarrhea (salmonellosis, foodborne diseases);
  • complex therapy of viral hepatitis A and B;
  • allergic diseases (atopic dermatitis, diathesis);
  • food poisoning, including alcohol and mushroom poisoning;
  • externally for the treatment of purulent wounds, trophic ulcers, burns;
  • as a detoxification agent for enterocolitis, liver cirrhosis, toxic hepatitis, hepatocholecystitis, kidney disease, accompanied by chronic renal failure;
  • as a detoxification agent for intoxications accompanying purulent-septic processes and burn disease, for alcohol and drug intoxication, as well as skin diseases (dermatitis, eczema, neurodermatitis).

According to the instructions, Atoxil in the form of a prepared suspension should be taken 1 hour before meals or other medications. The daily dose is usually divided into 3-4 doses. Adults and children over 7 years of age are recommended to take 12 g of the drug per day, but if necessary, this amount can be doubled. The daily dose of Atoxil for children is calculated by multiplying 150-200 mg by the child's weight. It should be borne in mind that at one time the amount of Atoxil used for children should not exceed half the daily dose.

When treating viral hepatitis and acute intestinal diseases with this drug, it is recommended to start with a maximum single dose, which corresponds to 7-10 g, 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment of acute intestinal infections with Atoxil usually does not exceed 5 days. In severe diseases, the course of therapy can be extended up to 15 days. In the treatment of viral hepatitis, this drug is used for 7-10 days.

If the independent use of Atoxil is not possible, the suspension is introduced into the stomach using a probe.

External use of the drug involves preliminary cleaning of the wound and applying a powder to it with a layer of up to 5 mm. The wound treated with Atoxil should be closed with a dry aseptic dressing.

External use of the drug is recommended every other day until the wound is completely cleansed.
