Astmopent is an anti-asthma drug.

Release form and composition

  • tablets (10 pcs. in blisters, 2 blisters per pack);
  • dosed aerosol: suspension with a characteristic odor, from white to light yellow [in 20 ml cans (400 doses), 1 can in a cardboard box];
  • solution for injection (1 ml in ampoules, 10 ampoules per pack).

Active ingredient: orciprenaline (in sulfate form):

  • 1 tablet - 20 mg;
  • 1 aerosol dose - 0.75 mg;
  • 1 ml of solution - 0.5 mg.

Aerosol auxiliary components: purified soy lecithin, dichlorofluoromethane, trichlorofluoromethane, sorbitol trioleate.

Indications for use

In the form of an aerosol, Astmopent is used to relieve asthma attacks in bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Tablets and injection solution are prescribed for the treatment of bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, bradycardia, cardioplegia, and atrioventricular blockade. In addition, in these dosage forms, the drug is used when there is a threat of premature birth, as well as when it is necessary to expand the bronchi before bronchoscopy and bronchography.

Contraindications

All dosage forms are contraindicated for tachyarrhythmias and hypersensitivity to drug components.

Additionally for aerosol: hyperthyroidism, age up to 12 years.

Additionally for tablets and injection solution: arterial hypertension, tachycardia.

During pregnancy and lactation, Astmopent can only be used as directed by a doctor, after a careful assessment of the balance of benefits and possible risks.

Method of administration and dosage

Pills

In this dosage form, Astmopent should be taken orally.

Recommended single doses:

  • adults - 20-40 mg;
  • children over 6 years old - 10 mg;
  • children under 6 years old - 5 mg.

The frequency of admission is 2–4 times a day.

Spray can

In this dosage form, the drug is used by inhalation.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years old are prescribed 1-2 inhalations once. If necessary, the reception is repeated, but not earlier than after 20-30 minutes. With regular use, 4-hour intervals should be observed between inhalations. The maximum permissible daily dose is 12 doses.

Using the inhaler:

  • remove the lid from the mouthpiece and make sure that its inner and outer surfaces are clean;
  • shake the inhaler (in the case of the first use, press the metering valve 1-2 times);
  • take the can upright by placing your thumb on its base. In this case, the arrows on the base of the can and on the label must point up;
  • take a deep breath;
  • clasp the mouthpiece tightly with your lips, without biting your teeth;
  • start inhaling through your mouth, at this moment press on the base of the can and continue to take a deep and calm breath;
  • hold the breath;
  • remove the inhaler from your mouth;
  • continue to hold your breath as much as possible;
  • exhale;
  • close the mouthpiece with a lid.

The lid of the mouthpiece and the body of the inhaler must be rinsed with warm water at least once a week, and then dried in a warm place, avoiding overheating.

Injection

In this dosage form, Astmopent is administered:

  • subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 0.5-1 mg;
  • intravenously slowly - at a dose of 0.25-0.5 mg;
  • intravenous drip - in a dose of 5-10 mg, diluted with saline or 5% glucose solution, at a rate of 10-20 drops per minute until a therapeutic effect is obtained.

For children, the drug is administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 0.25-0.5 mg, for infants - at a dose of 0.1-0.2 mg.

Side effects

  • on the part of the cardiovascular system and blood: heart rhythm disturbances, increased blood pressure, palpitations or pressure in the chest, tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, extrasystole; with intravenous administration - hypotension;
  • from the nervous system and sensory organs: dizziness, weakness, anxiety, insomnia, headache, muscle tremor, muscle cramps;
  • from the organs of the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, unpleasant taste in the mouth, vomiting;
  • others: allergic reactions, cough, hypokalemia, urinary disorders, excessive sweating; very rarely - increased asthma attack, paradoxical bronchospasm.

special instructions

Astmopent is prescribed with caution for arterial hypertension (aerosol), coronary heart disease, epilepsy, decompensated diabetes mellitus, and also in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Drug interactions

In the case of the simultaneous use of methylxanthines, anticholinergics, sympathomimetics and beta-adrenomimetics enhance the effect of Astmopent, as a result of which headache, anxiety, palpitations, dizziness and hypokalemia are possible.

The drug is not recommended to be used simultaneously with non-selective beta-blockers, sympathomimetics and beta-adrenergic agonists.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants enhance the effect of orciprenaline on vascular smooth muscle.

Terms and conditions of storage

Store in a place protected from light and out of the reach of children at temperatures up to 25 ° C. Do not freeze.

The shelf life is 3 years.
