Home treatment for hemorrhoids may not be effective in all cases. Patients are often interested in what is the reason? Is it possible to get rid of hemorrhoids without resorting to surgery, or do the symptoms of hemorrhoids stop forever, but only temporarily? Is it possible with folk remedies to influence the cause of the disease, and not only its manifestations?

Conservative therapy without surgery helps only in the initial stages; with an advanced disease, only surgery can help. In addition, even after surgical removal of the nodes, they can form again if the patient has not changed his lifestyle and diet.

Since it is possible to cure hemorrhoids with conservative methods only at the beginning of the disease, complex treatment should be started when the first symptoms of hemorrhoids appear:

  • itching in the anus;
  • discomfort and pain during bowel movements, stool disorders;
  • sensation of a foreign body in the anal canal;
  • impurities of mucus and blood in the feces.

These symptoms are a reason to contact a proctologist who will help determine the diagnosis and recognize the stage of hemorrhoids.

There are many treatments for hemorrhoids at home, but they are not the main therapy and are usually used as adjuvants, as well as supportive treatment to prolong the period of remission. Treatment at home should be supervised by your doctor. And although there are many photos and videos on the network demonstrating the use of traditional medicine and describing in detail their recipes, it is not recommended to use them without consulting a doctor. Among other things, not all of them are effective and safe for health.

Home remedies for the treatment of hemorrhoids

At home, can be used:

  • means for oral administration - decoctions, infusions and teas from medicinal plants. Competent herbal medicine stimulates metabolism and helps to improve stool;
  • rectal agents - suppositories (suppositories). They act directly on the affected intestinal walls, help relieve pain and inflammation in case of internal hemorrhoids;
  • baths and steam baths - have a wound healing and tonic effect;
  • enemas - solve problems with stool;
  • ointments - relieve inflammation and pain, promote the healing of wounds and cracks, mainly with external hemorrhoids.

Many of the folk remedies help relieve pain or relieve swelling if the node is inflamed, that is, they remove the symptoms, but they do not act on the cause and therefore cannot stop the progression of the disease.

Lifestyle change

An important condition for the effectiveness of treatment is lifestyle correction. It includes improving stool by changing eating habits, increasing physical activity, eliminating body overload and bad habits. The diet for hemorrhoids should be enriched with foods containing dietary fiber (fresh vegetables, fruits, dried fruits, seaweed, flaxseed, wheat bran). Food that irritates and contributes to the formation of constipation (fatty meat dishes, confectionery, spicy, fried, smoked dishes, marinades) are excluded from the diet. Drinking enough water is important, and fruit and vegetable juices will also be helpful.

Physiotherapy exercises are highly effective. A correctly composed and regularly performed gymnastic complex tones the hemorrhoids and improves tissue metabolism. Gymnastics should not include exercises involving strength loads, squats and lunges with weights, as well as cycling are contraindicated. Yoga, swimming, walking, and jogging are helpful.

Decoctions, teas, infusions used internally

In the home treatment of hemorrhoids, external agents are usually used, but the intake of decoctions, juices and infusions inside gives a positive effect. Medicinal enemas

In the treatment of hemorrhoids, a good effect can be achieved by directly acting on the lesion. Microclysters will help to cope with this task, which will allow the delivery of anti-inflammatory drugs directly to the hemorrhoids.

For enemas, you can use the same infusions and decoctions as for oral administration. In addition, a decoction of oak bark, medicinal chamomile flowers, sage leaves, strawberries or nightshades, and flax seeds are used. These herbal remedies help relieve pain, itching and inflammation. For an enema, take up to 200 ml of broth, the liquid should be warm, but not hot. Fluid is injected into the anus with a small syringe and held there for a while.

Sitting baths

Hemorrhoid baths are used to relieve pain, inflammation, stop anal bleeding, or relieve spasm of the anal sphincter. They have analgesic, relaxing, restorative, healing and antiseptic effects.

The most effective are baths with the following components:

  • aloe juice - accelerates the processes of cell and tissue regeneration, has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. Aloe infusion is prepared as follows: pieces of leaves are poured with boiling water, left to infuse under a lid for 30 minutes, then filtered;
  • St. John's wort - has an antiseptic, drying, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic and soothing effect on the rectal area. To prepare the infusion, 3 tablespoons of herbs are poured with 200 mg of boiling water, infused for 1 hour, then diluted with a liter of warm boiled water;

  • calendula - has an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal effect, perfectly heals anal fissures. To prepare a decoction for the bath, 2 tablespoons of inflorescences are steamed with boiling water, insisted for 30 minutes and filtered;
  • potassium permanganate is an effective antiseptic, promotes healing of cracks and erosions, reduces pain and swelling, soothes burning. For baths, several crystals of potassium permanganate are diluted in a glass of water, after complete dissolution, poured into a basin - a pale pink solution should be obtained.

Homemade candles

What to do if hemorrhoids worsened at the wrong time? If the hemorrhoid gets out and becomes inflamed at a time when there is no way to go to the hospital, first of all you will have to deal with the symptoms of exacerbation - acute pain, bleeding and inflammation.

Homemade suppositories can be used as the first emergency aid for exacerbating hemorrhoids to help soothe pain and relieve inflammation at least for a short time. Raw potatoes are often used for candles. A small candle, the size of a finger and of the same shape, is cut out, smooth, without sharp corners. Before being placed in the anus, the candle is lubricated with sunflower oil. The potato suppository is administered in the evening, leaving until the morning.

In addition to potatoes, candied honey and ice candles are used. The latter can be easily done by pouring liquid into a finger of a rubber glove and putting it in the refrigerator until it freezes completely. For this purpose, decoctions and infusions of medicinal plants with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects are used - chamomile flowers, oak bark and others. The resulting ice candles will help not only deliver the broth to the affected area of the intestine, but also cool and soothe the mucous membrane. In some sources, there are recommendations for the use of candles made from cloves of garlic, but with the help of such suppositories for hemorrhoids, you can harm yourself rather than help.

Hemorrhoids, causes of development and stages

Hemorrhoids (bumps) are formed due to a decrease in the elasticity of the vascular walls. Their progressive thinning and inflammation gradually becomes the cause of bleeding from the anus. Depending on the location of the affected vessels, internal and external hemorrhoids are distinguished.

Hemorrhoids are a common disease. It occurs in adult men and women with the same frequency, but the causes can be different. In women, the disease is often a consequence of pregnancy and childbirth. In men, hemorrhoids more often arise as a result of heavy lifting or, conversely, sedentary work, as well as improper diet and bad habits.

Regardless of the cause, the disease progresses rapidly without treatment, causing a lot of discomfort, especially during periods of exacerbation. Complications of hemorrhoids can be bleeding with the development of anemia, thrombosis and necrosis, paraproctitis, anal fissures.
