Fragmin (international name - Dalteparin sodium) belongs to a group of direct anticoagulants that have fibrinolytic and immunosuppressive effects. The drug has an anticoagulant effect and is intended for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Composition and form of release

The main active ingredient is sodium dalteparin 25-50 mg.

Auxiliary components: sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Fragmin is available in the form of a solution for intravenous injection in 1 ml ampoules, placed in a cardboard box of 10 pcs.

Pharmacological action of Fragmin

Fragmin actively affects blood clotting. The drug was created on the basis of a low molecular weight heparin concentrate with the addition of particles of the mucous membrane of the small intestine of a pig, and ion chromatography was used as additional purification.

According to Fragmin's instructions, the therapeutic effect is achieved within 3-4 hours after taking the drug. Bioavailability is about 90%. Fragmin is excreted from the body by the kidneys in the urine.

The course of treatment with the drug is prescribed with caution to patients with severe diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, hepatic and renal failure, since Fragmin increases the risk of internal bleeding. Also, the drug increases the risk of spinal hematoma when taken simultaneously with other anticoagulants and drugs containing heparin.

In patients with thromboembolism at high doses of Fragmin, a sharp drop in blood pressure may occur and a shock state may occur.

Indications for use

Fragmin is prescribed for the prevention of blood clotting and thrombus formation during surgical operations.

The drug is effective as part of complex therapy for the treatment of venous thrombosis, angina pectoris, thromboembolism and myocardial infarction.

Instructions for use of Fragmin

According to the instructions, Fragmin should be administered 200 IU 1-2 times a day or 100 IU 2-3 times a day. On an outpatient basis, as in a hospital, the exact dosage of the drug is determined by the attending physician according to the patient's indications.

During the period of drug treatment, it is necessary to regularly monitor blood clotting. For patients with serious circulatory disorders, preliminary therapy with indirect coagulants is prescribed, and then Fragmin is added to the combination therapy.

The day before the surgery, Fragmin is administered 5000 IU 1 time and in the same dosage for 5 days after the operation.

Fragmin's solution after orthopedic operations must be administered within 3-4 weeks at 5000 IU 1 time per day.

Contraindications

Fragmin is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity and individual intolerance to the components of the drug, immune thrombocytopenia, internal bleeding, severe diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, endocarditis, diseases of the central nervous system, impaired vision and hearing.

Fragmin should not be prescribed during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. The drug increases the risk of abnormal fetal development, and during lactation has a negative effect on breast milk.

In rare cases, Fragmin during pregnancy can be prescribed by the attending physician if the effectiveness of treatment outweighs the risk of adverse reactions.

With caution, the drug is prescribed for renal and hepatic insufficiency, disorders of the functioning of the brain and in old age.

Side effects of Fragmin

Fragmin can cause internal bleeding, thrombocytopenia, spinal hematoma, anaphylactic reactions, skin necrosis.
