Solutan is a drug with an expectorant and bronchodilator effect.

Release form and composition

Dosage form: oral solution (in vials equipped with droppers, 50 ml each; 1 bottle in a cardboard box).

Active substances in 1 ml of solution:

  • bitter almond water - 30 mg;
  • dill oil - 0.4 mg;
  • sodium iodide - 100 mg;
  • procaine hydrochloride - 4 mg;
  • radobelin - 0.1 mg;
  • saponin - 1 mg;
  • tolu balsam extract - 25 mg;
  • ephedrine hydrochloride - 17.5 mg.

Indications for use

Solutan is used in the treatment of bronchial asthma and bronchitis.

Contraindications

  • atherosclerosis;
  • enlarged prostate;
  • glaucoma;
  • children under 12 years old;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Solutan should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation, since radobelin and sodium iodide, which are part of it, penetrate the placental barrier, and belladonna is excreted in breast milk.

Method of administration and dosage

Solutan is indicated for oral administration after meals.

Adults are prescribed 10-30 drops, with attacks of suffocation, an increase in a single dose to 60 drops is allowed.

The recommended single dose for adolescents 12-15 years old is 5-10 drops.

The frequency of admission is 2-3 times a day.

Side effects

  • cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure, pain in the region of the heart, accelerated heart rate, ventricular arrhythmias;
  • digestive system: dry mouth (when taking the drug in high doses), pain in the epigastric region, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting;
  • central nervous system: anxiety, ataxia, sleep disturbances, headache;
  • musculoskeletal system: muscle weakness;
  • allergic reactions: contact dermatitis;
  • others: increased sweating, mydriasis.

The drug contains plant components, therefore, during its storage, the solution may become cloudy and a precipitate appears, which is not a contraindication to its use.
