Method of administration and dosage

Liniment

Liniment synthomycin is intended for external use. The drug is applied to the wound surface after preliminary surgical treatment of burns and wounds. A sterile gauze bandage is applied on top. Liniment can be applied to the dressing and then applied to the wound. The gauze dressings are changed once every 1-3 days, depending on the speed of wound healing.

After surgical treatment, fistulous passages and purulent wounds are loosely filled with gauze turundas or tampons with Syntomycin.

Vaginal suppositories

Synthomycin in the form of vaginal suppositories is intended for intravaginal use. The drug is administered 2-3 times a day, 1 suppository. The procedure is performed with the patient lying on his back. The suppository is inserted deep into the vagina.

The maximum daily dose is 4 suppositories. For girls who have reached puberty, the dose of Syntomycin is 1 suppository 1–2 times a day.

The duration of therapy varies on average from 8 to 10 days.

Side effects

Allergic reactions (angioedema, skin rash) may occur during the use of Syntomycin. In rare cases, suppression of hematopoiesis is possible (aplastic anemia, reticulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, granulocytopenia, erythropenia).

special instructions

During therapy, it is necessary to control the peripheral blood picture.

During treatment with Synthomycin, especially when liniment is applied to large areas, it is not recommended to use ethanol, since disulfiram-like reactions may occur (vomiting, nausea, convulsions, tachycardia, redness of the skin, reflex cough).

Drug interactions

Synthomycin can weaken the action of clindamycin, erythromycin and lincomycin.

Chloramphenicol reduces the antibacterial effect of cephalosporins and penicillins.

Terms and conditions of storage

Keep out of reach of children at room temperature (no more than 20-25 ° C). Shelf life of liniment - 2 years, suppositories - 3 years.
