Posterisan is a pharmacological drug for the local treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fissures and other diseases of the anorectal region.
Composition and form of release
According to the instructions, Posterisan is available in the form of an ointment for external use and in the form of rectal suppositories. The active ingredients are cell elements and metabolic products of Escherichia coli (E. coli), hydrocortisone.
1 g of Posterisan ointment contains 500 million microbial cells of E. coli inactivated by phenol and 2.5 mg of hydrocortisone. It also contains auxiliary components (lanolin, phenol, petroleum jelly). Ointment Posterisan is outwardly homogeneous, yellowish-brownish, with a phenol odor. The ointment is produced in aluminum tubes of 25 g, together with an applicator.
1 rectal suppository contains 100 million E. coli microbial cells inactivated with phenol and 5 mg of hydrocortisone. The auxiliary components are: acetylcysteine, disodium edetate, tocopherol, solid fat, phenol, macrogol, glycerol hydroxystearate. Suppositories Posterizan torpedo-shaped, whitish-yellowish, with a phenol smell. Suppositories are produced in a blister of 10 pieces, in a cardboard box 1 blister of the drug.
Pharmacological action of Posterisan
According to the instructions Posterisan has a regenerating, antipruritic, anti-inflammatory and immunostimulating effect. This drug promotes the formation of specific immunity.
Posterisan contains corpuscular elements of E. coli bacteria and their metabolic products, which stimulates the T-system of immunity and increases the phagocytic activity of leukocytes. In addition, Posterisan increases the formation of antibodies and improves local tissue resistance to pathogenic microorganisms, including antibiotic-resistant strains.
This drug reduces capillary permeability and improves the general vascular tone, as well as stimulates the healing of damaged tissues.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Posterizan is recommended for use under the following conditions:
- hemorrhoids (recurrent course);
- anal fissure;
- perianal dermatitis;
- anal and genital itching (especially resistant to other drugs);
- anopapillitis;
- early postoperative period after surgical interventions in the anorectal region.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, Posterisan is approved for use. There is no evidence that hydrocortisone crosses the placenta and into breast milk. There is also no data on the negative effect of this drug on the fetus. However, Posterisan should be used during pregnancy and lactation only under medical supervision.
Dosage and administration of Posterisan
Posterisan ointment should be used externally or injected with an applicator rectally (into the rectum). The ointment is applied to the affected skin area of the anorectal region or rectally 2 times a day, as well as after each act of defecation. Suppositories Posterisan is injected into the rectum 2 times a day (morning and evening), as well as after each bowel movement.
