Care should be taken when prescribing travoprost to patients with risk factors for macular edema (pseudophakia, aphakia, or damage to the posterior lens capsule), uveitis, acute iritis.

special instructions

Do not touch the eye with the pipette tip; after each procedure, the bottle must be tightly closed.

An increase in the amount of brown pigment in the iris characteristic of the drug can cause a gradual change in the color of the eyes in the patient. Mostly this occurs with a mixed natural color of the iris: blue-brown, gray-brown, yellow-brown, green-brown. Brown pigmentation usually spreads concentrically around the pupil to the periphery of the iris, staining it in a more intense brown color in whole or in part.

In patients with uniform blue, gray, green or brown eyes, color changes are not often observed after two years of using the drops.

The change in eye color does not cause any clinical symptoms or pathological changes.

After the cancellation of Travatan, the increase in the amount of brown pigment stops, but the eye color already formed during the treatment period can become permanent.

Patients should be informed about the possibility of changing the color of the eyes before starting treatment, since when treating only one eye, the color of the iris will change in only one eye and can cause permanent heterochromia.

The drug has no effect on nevi or lentigo, which may be present on the iris.

Drops can contribute to darkening, thickening and lengthening of eyelashes, increase their number, in rare cases cause darkening of the eyelid skin.

With the simultaneous use of other local antiglaucoma agents, it is recommended to observe an interval between instillations of at least 5 minutes.

If the patient uses contact lenses, then before instilling the drug, they should be removed and reinstalled 20 minutes after the procedure.

Drug interactions

The interaction of travoprost with other drugs has not been established.
