Toff Plus is a combined drug for eliminating the symptoms of acute respiratory diseases, has antipyretic, analgesic, vasoconstrictor, antitussive, decongestant and sedative effect, has an anti-allergic effect.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - capsules: No. 00, gelatinous, with a transparent structure, colorless body and blue lid, with the inscription PANACEA BIOTEC (manufacturer's name) on the shell, inside the capsule a mixture of yellow, red, white and blue granules (10 pcs.. in a blister, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 blisters).
1 capsule contains:
- active ingredients: paracetamol - 500 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride - 10 mg, dextromethorphan hydrobromide - 15 mg, chlorpheniramine maleate - 2 mg;
- auxiliary components: sucrose, povidone (K-30), croscarmellose sodium, sodium disulfite, diethyl phthalate, microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose acetate phthalate, brilliant blue dye, quinoline yellow dye, crimson dye (Ponso 4R), gelatin, talc;
- shell composition: gelatin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium lauryl sulfate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, water; additionally in the cap - brilliant blue dye.
Indications for use
The use of the drug Toff Plus is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of febrile and painful syndrome, rhinorrhea for colds, influenza, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), allergic / infectious rhinitis.
Contraindications
- arterial hypertension;
- deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- concomitant therapy with tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO);
- syndrome of glucose-galactose malabsorption, isomaltase or sucrose deficiency, fructose intolerance;
- blood diseases;
- angle-closure glaucoma;
- renal and / or hepatic impairment;
- Gilbert's syndrome;
- hyperplasia of the prostate;
- pheochromocytoma;
- diabetes;
- thyrotoxicosis;
- bronchitis;
- bronchial asthma;
- the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- age up to 14 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Care should be taken when prescribing capsules to patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, angina pectoris, in old age.
Method of administration and dosage
The capsules are intended for oral administration.
Recommended dosage for adult patients: 1 pc. every 4–6 hours.
The maximum daily dose is 4 pcs.
Without consulting a doctor, capsules can be taken for no more than 3 days as an antipyretic agent.
Side effects
- from the nervous system and sensory organs: increased excitability, drowsiness, dizziness, mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, paresis of accommodation;
- on the part of the cardiovascular system: arterial hypertension;
- from the digestive system: pain in the epigastric region, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, hepatotoxic effects;
- from the urinary system: urinary retention, papillary necrosis (nephrotoxicity);
- on the part of hematopoietic organs: aplastic anemia, anemia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia;
- allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, bronchial obstruction, angioedema.
special instructions
Do not combine Toff Plus with other drugs that include paracetamol, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, phenylephrine hydrochloride or chlorpheniramine maleate.
Allergic reactions against the background of the use of the drug can be delayed, this is due to the presence of propyl parahydroxybenzoate and methyl parahydroxybenzoate in the composition.
During the period of treatment, you should not drink alcohol and take ethanol-containing drugs, since this can cause the development of a hepatotoxic effect. In chronic alcoholism, the use of the drug in therapeutic doses is associated with the risk of severe hepatic failure.
Capsules affect the speed of psychomotor reactions and concentration of the patient's attention, therefore, during the period of use of the drug, one should not engage in potentially hazardous activities, including driving a car.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of capsules Toff Plus:
- MAO monoamine oxidase inhibitors, sedatives, ethanol enhance their effect;
- antiparkinsonian drugs, antidepressants, antipsychotics, phenothiazine derivatives increase the risk of dry mouth, urinary retention, constipation;
- tricyclic antidepressants increase the sympathomimetic effect;
- halothane increases the likelihood of developing ventricular arrhythmias;
- uricosuric agents reduce their activity;
- glucocorticosteroids contribute to the development of glaucoma;
- guanethidine reduces the hypotensive effect and enhances the alpha-adrenostimulating effect of phenylephrine.
The combination of chlorpheniramine with MAO inhibitors and furazolidone can cause fever, the development of a hypertensive crisis, and psychomotor agitation.
