Gynecotex is a topical contraceptive with spermicidal action.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - vaginal tablets: almost white or white, in the form of a ring (6 or 10 pieces in a blister strip, 1 or 2 packs in a cardboard box; 12 pieces in a polymer tube, 1 tube in a cardboard box).

1 tablet contains:

  • active substance: benzalkonium chloride - 20 mg;
  • auxiliary components: lactopress (anhydrous lactose), aerosil (colloidal silicon dioxide), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, copovidone (plasdon ES-630), macrogol (polyethylene glycol 4000), crospovidone (polyplasdone IKS EL-10).

Indications for use

The use of Gynecotex is indicated for women of reproductive age for local contraception in the following cases:

  • the need for episodic protection from conception;
  • the presence of contraindications to the use of intrauterine or oral contraceptives;
  • premenopausal period;
  • period after childbirth or termination of pregnancy;
  • breast-feeding;
  • violation of the schedule for taking a constantly used oral contraceptive.

Contraindications

  • colpitis;
  • irritation or ulceration of the vaginal and uterine lining;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Method of administration and dosage

The tablets are intended for vaginal use by inserting in the supine position deep into the vagina 5 minutes before intercourse.

The contraceptive effect of one pill lasts for 240 minutes and is designed for only 1 sexual intercourse. Therefore, for each repeated sexual intercourse, it is imperative to introduce a new pill.

The frequency of application depends on the individual tolerance of the active substance and the number of intercourse.

The use of Gynecotex can cause undesirable effects in the form of local burning, itching, or cause the development of contact dermatitis.
