Ersefuril is an antidiarrheal agent, an intestinal antiseptic.
The release form of the drug is hard gelatin capsules with a yellow powder contained inside. 1 capsule of Ersefuril contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide and auxiliary components: magnesium stearate (1.8 mg), sucrose (72 mg), corn starch (88 mg).
Pharmacological action Ersefuril
The therapeutic effect of Ersefuril according to the instructions is to block the activity of the enzyme dehydrogenases - substances that ensure the implementation of reactions of fat, carbohydrate metabolism and oxidation in the microbial cell. Nifuroxazide inhibits the tricarboxylic acid cycle, respiratory chains, destroys the membrane and interferes with a number of biochemical processes in the cells that are the "culprits" of intestinal infection.
The action of Ersefuril also consists in activating the patient's immunity, increasing the titer of complement and phagocytosis - a process in which cells hostile to our body are absorbed by special microorganisms (phagocytes). The use of Ersefuril in therapeutic doses provides a bacteriostatic effect of the drug, in higher doses - bactericidal.
The drug is effective against gram-positive (Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Clostridium) and gram-negative (Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Shigella, Enterobacter, Klebsiela, Vibrio cholerae) microorganisms.
In the responses to Ersefuril, there is no negative effect of the drug on the saprophytic intestinal flora involved in the formation of immunity - that is, the use of the drug does not cause dysbiosis.
Resistance of bacterial strains to the drug, according to medical research, does not develop. When the body is infected with enterotropic viruses, Ersefuril prevents the appearance of bacterial superinfection.
According to reviews, Ersefuril is used for acute bacterial diarrhea, effectively restoring the eubiosis (balance) of the intestinal flora.
Indications for Ersefuril's use
Diarrhea (acute bacterial diarrhea). The drug is prescribed in the absence of suspicion of infection of the body with worms (invasion). In case of detection of infectious diarrhea with symptoms indicating invasion, it is necessary to prescribe systematic antibiotic therapy.
According to indications, treatment with Ersefuril does not eliminate the need for a rehydration process, which means the restoration of water-salt metabolism, if required.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives, children under 6 years of age. The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible if there are indications for Ersefuril - if the expected benefit from taking the drug outweighs the risk for the full development of the fetus. The use of Ersefuril during lactation is not prohibited.
Due to the presence of sucrose in Ersefuril, taking the drug is not recommended for people suffering from glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, fructose intolerance or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Side effects of Ersefuril
In some cases, taking the drug can provoke allergic reactions, such as hives, skin rashes, Quincke's edema or anaphylactic shock.
Storage conditions
According to the instructions, the optimal storage conditions for Ersefuril are a dry and cool place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. The shelf life of the drug is 5 years. It is not recommended to use the medicinal product after the expiration date.
