Release form and composition

• cream for external use 2%: uniform consistency, white (20 g in laminated aluminum tubes, each tube is placed in a cardboard box);

Composition of 1 g of Sertamicol cream:

• active substance: sertaconazole nitrate - 20 mg;
• additional components: stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, polysorbate 60 (Tween 60), myristyl alcohol (Sepeziol c 14), octyldodecanol, glyceryl monostearate (NSE), sorbitan stearate, benzyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, purified water.

Pharmacological properties

Sertaconazole nitrate - the active substance Sertamicol is a derivative of imidazole and benzothiophene, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. Possesses fungicidal and fungistatic properties.

The mechanism of its action is due to the ability to inhibit the synthesis of the main sterol of the membranes of fungi and yeast (ergosterol) and increase the permeability of the cell membrane, resulting in the lysis of the fungal cell.

Pathogenic fungi (Candida spp., Including Candida tropicalis and Candida albicans, Pityrosporum orbiculare), dermatophytes (Microsporum, Trichophyton, Epidermophyton), pathogens of infections of the mucous membranes and skin (gram-positive strains and streptococci) are susceptible to sertaconazole.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied externally, Sertamicol is poorly absorbed through the skin, therefore it practically does not have a systemic effect, it is not detected in urine and blood.

Indications for use

• multicolored (pityriasis) versicolor;
• candidiasis;
• dermatophytosis (lesions of the feet, hands, legs, beard, body).

Sertamikol cream, in addition, is used to treat dermatomycosis, including inguinal.

Contraindications

Both dosage forms are contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to any component of Sertamicol or other imidazole derivatives.

The drug should be used with caution during pregnancy.

Sertamicol solution is not prescribed for children under 12 years of age; it is used with caution to treat children under 12 years of age.

Instructions for the use of Sertamikol: method and dosage

Sertamicol, regardless of the dosage form, is used externally.

The cream for adults should be applied 2 times a day with a thin layer on previously cleaned (with water and soap) and dried affected areas of the body and healthy skin areas connected to them, capturing about 1 cm along the edges of the affected area.

Side effects

According to the instructions, Sertamicol is generally well tolerated. In rare cases (from> 1/10000 to <1/1000), there are reactions from the skin and subcutaneous tissues: contact dermatitis, erythema, allergic reactions.

Some patients develop erythematous reactions, which quickly pass and do not require discontinuation of the drug.

Overdose

Sertamicol is used externally and is characterized by insignificant systemic absorption, so overdose is unlikely.
