Bifidus is a dry milk mixture for the normalization of intestinal microflora in newborns.
Release form and composition
Bifidus is produced in the form of a dry powder, in packs of 300 g or 325 g (depending on the manufacturer).
The Bifidus mixture contains: whey, sunflower, rapeseed and palm oils, skimmed milk powder, milk fat, lactose, hydrolyzed corn starch, lactulose, mineral salts (copper, selenium, zinc, iron, calcium, sodium, chloride), vitamins D, K, A, C, E, B6, folic acid, biotin, niacin, taurine, diglycerides and monoglycerides.
Indications for use
Bifidus is an adapted infant formula that satisfies the physiological needs of children from birth to one year and older for vitamins and essential nutrients.
Lactulose, which is part of the mixture, has bifidogenic properties - under its action, the stool is liquefied, the intestines are easily emptied, the growth of its own lactobacilli and bifidobacteria is activated.
Thanks to the use of Bifidus:
- The pressure in the colon cavity increases;
- Reabsorption of water from the large intestine is prevented, feces are moistened;
- The digestion process improves;
- Intestinal colic gradually decreases;
- The absorption of calcium, iron, phosphorus and other useful substances increases.
The Bifidus mixture is recommended for children with constipation (stool retention for 36-48 hours), with unstable stools with an abnormal consistency: "sheep" feces, too dense feces, especially in cases where this causes anxiety in the child. The mixture is also indicated for children who have received antibiotic treatment.
Contraindications
The use of Bifidus is contraindicated in congenital lactose intolerance and other components of the mixture.
Method of administration and dosage
Bifidus is introduced into the child's diet before the main feeding in a separate bottle in a volume of 50 ml. In the absence of side effects, its volume is increased by 100-150 ml every day. The optimal daily dosage is 600-800 ml. Usually, the stool returns to normal after 3-4 days, after which the daily volume can be reduced.
The formula can also be used as the main food by replacing it for 2 or 3 meals and mixing it with other food mixtures. After the stool improves, to prevent functional constipation, dysbiotic changes in the intestinal flora and to maintain its normal composition, it is recommended to replace 1 or 2 feedings per day with the Bifidus mixture during the first 12 months of a child's life.

As a rule, taking Bifidus does not lead to the development of side effects. In some cases, the development of allergic reactions is possible.
