Transulose is a laxative.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - gel for oral administration: opaque, shiny, dense, fine-grained, from yellow to yellow-orange in color, with a characteristic odor (150 g each in a polypropylene can, one can in a cardboard box complete with a measuring spoon).

Composition of 100 g gel:

• active substances: lactulose - 35 g, liquid paraffin - 42.91 g, soft white paraffin - 21.45 g;
• auxiliary components: aspartame, cholesterol, lactic acid, bixin oil, mandarin oil, lemon oil, orange oil.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Transulose is a combined drug that has a laxative effect in two ways due to the components that make up it.

Lactulose exhibits an osmotic effect, increasing hydration and the volume of the contents of the colon.

Liquid paraffin and soft white have a mechanical effect, thinning and softening the contents of the colon.

The drug works for 6-8 hours.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of lactulose is insignificant and amounts to 0.4–2% in the small intestine. In the colon, it is activated by the saccharolytic flora and is transformed into lactic and acetic acids, which are excreted through the intestines.

Liquid and soft white paraffin is not absorbed.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Transulose is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults.

Contraindications

Absolute:

• intestinal obstruction (including partial);
• painful abdominal syndrome of unknown origin;
• rectal bleeding (other than those caused by hemorrhoids);
• colostomy;
• ileostomy;
• galactosemia;
• phenylketonuria;
• suspicion of appendicitis;
• acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity;
• increased sensitivity to drug components;
• age up to 18 years.

Relative contraindications:

• diabetes;
• difficulties in swallowing, including in bedridden patients (risk of bronchial inhalation and fatty pneumopathy).

Instructions for the use of Transulose: method and dosage

The gel is taken orally.

Recommended dosage: at the beginning of therapy - 1 scoop 1-2 times a day. Depending on the result obtained, it is possible to increase the frequency of administration up to 3 times a day. Maintenance daily dose - 1-3 scoops. The maximum dose of Transulose is 3 scoops per day. The duration of therapy is no more than 8 days.

The duration of therapy and the possibility of repeated courses of taking the drug is determined by the attending physician.

Side effects

• digestive system: nausea, flatulence, diarrhea;
• nervous system: headache, dizziness, convulsions;
• other: myalgia, arrhythmia, weakness and increased fatigue.

With prolonged use of the drug, a violation of the water-electrolyte balance, irritation of the perianal region is possible.

Overdose

An overdose symptom is diarrhea, in this case it is recommended to cancel the drug.
