Probifor is an agent regulating the balance of intestinal microflora, a probiotic of biological origin.

Release form and composition

  • Capsules: gelatinous solid, with a white body and a yellow cap; inside - powder from light to dark gray color with black particles of coal, inclusions of beige color are possible, with a weak fermented milk smell (6, 10 or 18 pcs. in plastic bottles, 6, 10, 18 or 30 pcs. in plastic cans, in a pack of cardboard 1 bottle or 1 can);
  • Powder for oral administration: from light to dark gray with black particles of coal, beige interspersed are possible, has a weak fermented milk smell (in multilayer metal-polymer bags, in a cardboard pack 6, 10 or 30 bags).

Active substance: Bifidobacterium bifidum (bifidobacteria), sorbed on activated carbon, in 1 capsule and 1 package of powder - at least 500 million CFU (colony-forming units).

Excipient of capsules and powder: lactose.

Indications for use

  • Diarrhea syndrome of various etiologies;
  • Dysbacteriosis of various origins, including as a result of taking antibiotics, radiation, cytostatic or antibacterial therapy;
  • Dysbacteriosis complicating intestinal diverticulosis, liver cirrhosis, viral hepatitis;
  • Food toxicoinfections;
  • Acute and chronic intestinal infections of viral and bacterial genesis (rotavirus infection, shigellosis, salmonellosis and enterocolitis caused by staphylococci or pathogenic microorganisms of the genus Enterobacteriaceae), as well as of unknown etiology;
  • Syndrome of impaired intestinal absorption of various etiologies;
  • Irritable bowel syndrome and other functional intestinal disorders;
  • Chronic nonspecific inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by a violation of the microflora and inhibition of the reparative processes of the intestinal mucosa (colitis, including ulcerative, gastroduodenitis, proctosigmoiditis, pancreatitis);
  • Severe dysbiosis in newborns, including premature babies;
  • Complicated premorbid background in newborns, including premature babies (to improve the adaptation period).

Complex therapy:

  • Acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza;
  • Severe infectious-inflammatory and purulent-septic diseases (including peritonitis and sepsis);
  • Certain skin diseases (eczema, streptoderma, atopic dermatitis);
  • Secondary immunodeficiency states, including in newborns;
  • Oncological diseases before and after surgery, during radiation and chemotherapy;
  • Post-gastro-resection disorders and conditions after cholecystectomy.

Also Probifor is used in the following cases:

  • Complex treatment of surgical patients (including traumatological ones) to prepare for surgery and prevent the development of postoperative complications;
  • Preparation of pregnant women for childbirth, caesarean section operations, as well as the postoperative period.

Contraindications

Probiotic Probifor is contraindicated only in case of individual intolerance to its components.

The drug in the form of capsules is not prescribed for children under 5 years of age (due to possible difficulties with swallowing).

Method of administration and dosage

Probifor should be taken orally, preferably with meals.

The capsules are swallowed whole and washed down with a fermented milk drink or boiled water.

The powder must be mixed with liquid food immediately before taking it (optimally - fermented milk, or with boiled water at room temperature, 30-50 ml), for infants - with mother's milk or milk formula for artificial feeding. When mixed with water, a turbid suspension with sorbent particles is formed, you need to drink it without waiting for complete dissolution.

Recommended doses for diarrhea syndrome, food poisoning and acute intestinal infections:

  • Adults and children over 7 years old - 2-3 capsules / package 2 times a day for 3-5 days. For adults, for a quick cessation of diarrhea, you can take 3 capsules / packages 2 times a day with an interval of 30-60 minutes, or 6 capsules / packages 1 time a day for a course of 1 to 3 days;
  • Children 5-7 years old - 1 capsule 3-4 times a day, if necessary at short intervals of 2-3 hours, duration of treatment - 2-3 days, if clinical symptoms persist, it is possible to increase the course of treatment to 4-5 days;
  • Children over 6 months - 1 packet 3-4 times a day, if necessary at short intervals 2-3 hours, duration of treatment - 2-3 days, if clinical symptoms persist, the duration of treatment is increased to 4-5 days;
  • Children under 6 months - 1 package 2 times a day for 2-3 days, if necessary, the course is extended to 4-5 days.

Recommended doses for chronic pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract and functional intestinal disorders:

  • Adults - 3 capsules / package 1 time per day during the evening meal or 2 capsules / package 2 times a day;
  • Children over 5 years old - 3 capsules / package 1 time per day during the evening meal;
  • Children under 5 years old - 3 packages 1 time per day for dinner.

The duration of treatment is 5-15 days.

In severe cases of the disease, the dose is increased: adults and children over 5 years old - up to 6 capsules / packages per day, children from 1 year to 5 years old - up to 6 packages per day. Treatment in this case can last up to 30 days.

Recommended doses for dysbiosis, chronic intestinal infections, skin diseases, immunodeficiency states, as well as to improve the course of the adaptation period in newborns:

  • Adults and children over 7 years old - 2-3 capsules / package 2 times a day;
  • Children 5-7 years old - 1 capsule / packet 3 times a day;
  • Children 3-5 years old - 1 package 3 times a day;
  • Children under 3 years old and full-term newborns - 1 package 2 times a day;
  • Premature newborns - 1 packet 1-2 times a day.

The duration of therapy is 7-10 days.

Recommended doses of Probifor when used in the complex therapy of influenza and ARVI:

  • Adult patients, elderly people and children over 5 years old - 1 capsule / packet 3 times a day;
  • Children under 5 years old - 1 package 3 times a day.

Treatment should be started from the 1-2 day of the disease. It is recommended to take the drug within 2 days.

Pregnant women in preparation for a cesarean section and surgical patients (to reduce the risk of postoperative complications) the drug is prescribed according to the following scheme:

  • 2-3 days before the operation - 1 capsule / packet 3 times a day, for patients with intestinal dysbiosis who underwent antibiotic or chemotherapy - within 7 days before the operation;
  • From 2-7 days after the operation - 1 capsule / packet 3 times a day for 2-3 days, if indicated, the course can be increased to 7-10 days.

Side effects

Taken in recommended doses, Probifor does not cause side effects.

As an auxiliary component, the drug contains lactose, so it should be used with caution in patients with lactase deficiency.

Probifor can be taken during pregnancy and lactation.

Drug interactions

Antibiotics can reduce the therapeutic effectiveness of Probifor, vitamin preparations (especially the content of B vitamins) can enhance it.
